What a Lush

lush.jpg

It is time again for Lush Cosmetics' famous annual publicity stunt.

Last July in 55 cities, Lush employees showed up to work naked - less a white apron reading "Ask me why I'm Naked" across the front. The protest was in protest of over-packaging, something the company tries to eliminate at every cost. Rumour has it one employee at a Montreal location was arrested for public indecency after he got rid of his apron all together.

This year's attack is plastic bags. Lush's stats say there are close to 50,000 bits of plastic bag per square mile of ocean in the world. Apparently more than 500 billion are produced annually, enough to encircle the globe more than 550 times.

Between Noon and 1 p.m. at the Byward Market location, the first 100 people to bring in a plastic grocery-type bag will be given a free linen shopping bag in exchange. This year's stunt will take place at this time as well. Gonna be hard to beat naked though.
